Mesa has a specific, expensive trap built into its bulk trash program, and almost nobody knows about it until it bites. It is not that the City refuses construction debris — plenty of cities do. It is this: if you mix one prohibited item into an otherwise acceptable pile, the City can leave the entire load behind. Not the one bad item. The whole pile. On your curb. Until you deal with it.

What Mesa bulk pickup will not take
The City of Mesa cannot collect liquids of any kind, or construction and home remodeling materials. Mesa’s own list of excluded remodeling materials is long and specific:
- Cabinets, countertops and bathroom vanities
- Tile, brick, drywall, concrete and cement
- Gravel, rock and dirt
- Shingles, wood, lumber and pallets
- Sinks, bathtubs, shower stalls and doors
Read that list again with a remodel in mind. The vanity, the old tile, the tub, the doors, the lumber offcuts — that is not an edge case, that is the entire contents of a bathroom demo. There is essentially no version of a remodel pile that Mesa bulk will take.
How Mesa’s program actually works
Mesa runs bulk on a scheduled rotation — each neighborhood gets pickups on a rotating basis through the year — and additional bulk item pickup is available to Mesa solid waste customers for a charge, scheduled in advance. City information lists bulk item pickup starting around $31.00 per load for Mesa trash and recycling customers and about $39.59 per load for non-Mesa customers.
Mesa also runs a Landfill Use Program: residential solid waste customers paying the Green & Clean fee can drop off extra trash at the landfill at a discounted rate once a month, starting around $15 billed to the utility account. That is a genuinely good deal — if you own a truck, have the time, can load it yourself, and can unload it yourself at the other end. For most homeowners mid-project, that is two or three round trips and a wrecked Saturday.

Mesa’s older housing stock means a lot of renovation — 1970s and 80s kitchens and bathrooms coming out across Dobson Ranch, Alta Mesa and the neighborhoods off Main. Cast-iron tub, mortar-bed tile, sheet vinyl and particleboard cabinets: heavy, sharp and every item on Mesa’s exclusion list. We load it where it sits and haul it in one trip.
Estate and full-house cleanouts
Mesa has a large long-term-resident population, and we get called often for full-property clearouts after a move to assisted living or a family loss. We work these carefully and donation-first — Goodwill and Habitat for Humanity ReStore get anything still usable before a landfill sees it.
Garage and monsoon storm debris
Buy an older Mesa home and the garage usually comes with somebody else’s thirty years of leftovers. Monsoon season (June 15 through September 30) adds downed fence panels, snapped limbs and shredded palm fronds. We clear both.

Honest comparison: if you have a pickup, free weekends and a manageable pile, Mesa’s Landfill Use Program will beat us on price. Where we win is remodel debris — heavy, hazardous to handle, excluded from bulk, and more than one truckload. Heavy material like tile, concrete, dirt and hot tubs we quote on site first, since weight rather than volume drives that cost.
What we will not take
No paint, chemicals, asbestos, tires with rims, or medical waste — those need specialized disposal. Everything else from a normal Mesa remodel or cleanout, we handle.
